Born in Yugoslavia in 1946, Abramović has gained international recognition for her performances that often involve endurance, self-exploration, and audience participation. She has been active in the art world since the 1970s and has produced a wide range of performances, installations, and other artistic endeavors throughout her career. Abramović is particularly known for her piece ”The Artist is Present,” performed at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in 2010, where she sat silently across from museum visitors for a total of 736 hours and 30 minutes. Her work often delves into themes of identity, gender, spirituality, and the relationship between performer and audience.
There is a YouTube video if you can stomach the visual of her spirit cooking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EsJLNGVJ7E
So she worked with Jacob Samuel to produce a cookbook of aphrodisiac recipes called Spirit Cooking.

Marina Abramović first came to the United States in the early 1970s. She initially traveled to the U.S. to further her artistic career and to explore new opportunities in the burgeoning art scene of New York City. Throughout the 1970s and beyond, Abramović became increasingly involved in the American art world, participating in exhibitions, performances, and collaborations with other artists. Her time in the U.S. played a significant role in shaping her artistic practice and establishing her reputation as one of the leading figures in contemporary performance art.
Marina Abramovic is a popular influencer she does some work with the elite political sphere and the elite popular culture people and they will approach her and she becomes a spiritual director, where I am going to give you a certain number of things to do and if you do them you will attain the thing that you are seeking whether its political power or fame. And some of the things that she has or have had people do are satanic witchcraft like cutting yourself drinking blood engaging in orgies and spirit cooking all sorts of depraved things, which I remind you a lot of this came out in the 2016 election with her performing spirit cooking party for John Podesta Hillary Clinton’s campaign advisor. Marina has worked with Jay Z, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, The Clintons Kim Kardashian.
An example of her work is cleaning the mirror, which consists of 5 monitors playing footage in which Abramovich scrubs a grimy human skeleton in her lap she vigorously brushes the different parts of the skeleton with soapy water each monitor is dedicated to one part of the skeleton each video is filmed with its own sound creating an overlap as the skeleton becomes cleaner, Abramovich becomes covered in the grayish dirt that was once covering the skeleton this 3 hour performance is filled with metaphors of the Tibetan death rites that prepared disciples to become one with their mortality.
There is a YouTube video if you can stomach the visual of her spirit cooking I will leave in the description if you want to see her in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EsJLNGVJ7E

Marina claims to be a performance artist.
In a 2013 Reddit AMA Marina was asked “can magic be made?” (not simply performed) she answered “If you are doing it in a different context, in spiritual circles or a private house or on TV shows it is not art”
